Teamsters launch fresh effort against independent port truck

As the Environmental Protection Agency prepares to evaluate the “The Clean Trucks Program” at the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach, the Teamsters are mounting an offensive to change the game.

The latest effort comes today as the union and its political affiliates present a report to to the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners stating its case for organized labor. According to the Teamsters, new data reveals the cost of truck maintenance, the financial inability of individual drivers to meet this challenge, and the profound environmental threat that both pose to clean-air gains.
